Tutor LMS in 2025: Shaping the Future of eLearning

Every year tells its own story, and 2025 has been one of focus, refinement, and evolution for Tutor LMS. We stepped into the year determined to strengthen the core experience for the creators and educators who rely on us every day. Now, as we prepare to turn the page to 2026, we’re looking back at the moments, updates, and community wins that made this chapter one of our most impactful yet.

So come on this journey with us as we celebrate the highlight moments for Tutor LMS in 2025.

Starting off With a Bang

Kicking things off for us, we are proud to say that Tutor LMS reached over 100k active installations throughout 2025. Our ever growing community fills us with more pride and joy than we can hope for. We admire each and every one of you for your continuous unwavering support and we hope we can become bigger in the coming years!

What We Built Together in 2025

Last year ended with Tutor LMS unveiling and releasing its biggest update to date, Tutor LMS 3.0. Ever since that, our mission has been to build upon that foundation and offer our users utmost freedom to create, manage, and sell their courses all from one place.

The focus was then, naturally put on creating a complete end to end platform with Tutor LMS. Let’s take a look at how Tutor LMS 3.0 evolved throughout the year.

Building on 3.0: Strengthening the Core Experience

Subscriptions & Memberships Arrive

This year started with Tutor LMS focusing more on fleshing out the Native eCommerce we built with the 3.0 update. The first step for that was the introduction of Memberships and Subscriptions. While eCommerce did launch with the built in subscription system, 2025 solidified its impact and rolled in updates to take it to the next level.

The system supports multiple subscription and membership models, from single course subscriptions to site-wide or category-based access. You could create plans with monthly, yearly, or custom billing intervals, sell bundled subscriptions, or design tiered membership levels that unlock different parts of your content library.

Today, the native Subscriptions and Memberships features give you a complete toolkit for recurring revenue and that too all without leaving Tutor LMS.

Courses as a Gift, Natively Supported

We also rolled out Course Gifting, a straightforward way to purchase a course for someone else and send it directly to their inbox. Users could add a message, send the gift, and the recipient would receive an enrollment link they could activate instantly.

For site owners, this unlocked a new stream of organic enrollments, especially during seasonal promotions, personal milestones, and academic gifting occasions. More importantly, it helped courses reach learners who might never have discovered them on their own, creating a natural referral effect without needing extra marketing push.

Building Courses Faster with the Content Bank

A major update in 2025 introduced the Content Bank, a feature for instructors and teams managing large course libraries. Instead of rebuilding lessons, quizzes, or assignments from scratch in every course, creators could store reusable learning materials in one central location and pull them into any course when needed.

This made multi-course management cleaner and far more efficient. One edit could update the original source and keep everything consistent wherever it was used. It also improved collaboration for multi-instructor setups and made content migration and backups more manageable. The Content Bank helped shift content creation from a repetitive process into a scalable workflow.

Expanded Payment Options

We also expanded Tutor LMS’s native eCommerce by adding support for Authorize.net, Paddle, and 2Checkout, giving site owners more flexibility in how they accept payments and operate globally.

These gateways were introduced to support platforms with different commercial needs. Together, they opened the door for more regional compatibility, smoother transactions, and less friction for both course creators and learners.

Migration Made Simpler

Going along the improvements to the native eCommerce we also made shifting to our eCommerce smoother. Tutor LMS migration tool got a big update this year to allow for migration from WooCommerce to our native eCommerce. We understood that a lot of users eager to try out the native system already had everything set up on WooCommerce. So there was only one path forward in our quest for inclusion and ease, migration.

Users were able to migrate their existing eCommerce data directly into Tutor LMS’s native system. The process was simple, and once moved, everything lived in one place.

The Details That Make the Platform Whole

Alongside the major releases, we shipped a series of smaller but meaningful additions that pushed Tutor LMS closer to being a full one-stop solution. These weren’t big headline features, but they made everyday use noticeably smoother.

Learners could finally take notes inside lessons, keeping quick thoughts and reminders in the same place they studied. The lesson notes also included timestamped notes for video lessons too, giving learners more ways to learn and interact with your content.

We also rolled out course bundle certificates, which gave bundled programs more structure and payoff at completion. Guest checkouts made purchasing faster for first-time buyers, without forcing account creation upfront. We also vastly improved manual enrollment this year. Admins could enroll users into subscriptions, bundles, and paid courses directly, with cleaner controls and fewer steps. The backend interface was simplified, searches worked better, and billing/tax handling was more consistent. Overall, it became easier to add learners in bulk to courses, bundles and subscription tiers.

Lastly with our “Coming Soon” feature for courses, creators could list upcoming content early and build interest before launch. This helped generate hype for courses increasing the overall engagement to your eLearning site.

Each update was incremental on its own, but together they filled important gaps, bringing the platform closer to an all-in-one learning and selling environment.

When Tutor LMS Met Droip

One of the standout developments this year was the Tutor LMS × Droip integration, which brought powerful visual design capabilities to our LMS ecosystem. Droip is a no-code WordPress site builder that works seamlessly with Tutor LMS, giving creators real freedom to customize every part of their learning site without touching a line of code.

With this integration, users could visually design core elements like course lists, single course pages, and instructor profiles, all driven by live Tutor LMS data. Droip’s dedicated LMS elements made it possible to pull dynamic information such as lesson content, pricing, thumbnails, and course actions straight into the page layouts users built.

Later in the year, we expanded this collaboration with Phase 2, enabling even deeper dynamic experiences. Subscription options, membership plans, and course gifting actions could now be integrated directly into Droip-designed pages, creating a more unified and engaging interface for learners and site owners alike.

Built by a sister team to the one behind Tutor LMS, Droip integrates like a native extension rather than a third-party add-on.

Tutor LMS’s Very Own Theme Library

Right after bringing the Droip integration with Tutor LMS, we took it even further by introducing a curated library of LMS-focused themes designed to make your learning sites look outstanding from day one.

These themes, including standouts like Pathwise, WellThrive, and Workademy were crafted to work seamlessly with Droip and Tutor LMS. That means you get beautiful, purpose-built layouts for course catalogs, lesson pages, instructor profiles, and more, all customizable through visual design tools without writing a single line of code.

Because they were made with both Droip and Tutor LMS in mind, these themes helped create professional eLearning sites easier and faster. Whether you’re building a niche coaching site or a full academy, the curated theme library gave you a strong visual foundation to match the power under the hood.

The new themes once again solidified the ecosystem of Tutor LMS to be a one-stop solution. Be sure to check out our ever growing library of LMS themes.

Learning Resources That Grew With the Platform

Supporting WordCamps Around the Globe

On the physical front, Tutor LMS continued to strengthen its global footprint by supporting WordCamps across different regions. One of the highlights of the year was Tutor LMS’s offline presence at WordCamp US. As one of the largest and most influential WordPress events in the world, WordCamp US provided an incredible platform to connect face to face with the community.

Throughout the event, the Tutor LMS team had the opportunity to showcase the product, discuss real-world use cases, and gather valuable feedback from educators, course creators, and agencies. These conversations helped reinforce Tutor LMS’s commitment to building practical, scalable eLearning solutions for WordPress users. Along with that Tutor LMS was also a proud sponsor of WordCamp Dhaka!

Preparing for the Next Leap

2025 was a year of real momentum for Tutor LMS. Each update and quality-of-life improvement this year has been leading toward a bigger step forward which is Tutor LMS 4.0.

This release isn’t about piling on features for the sake of it. Instead, it focuses on rethinking the learner experience with a more modern interface and improved ways for students to move through lessons and activities. We’re not overhauling everything at once, but we are restructuring key parts of the learning environment so it feels more natural, interactive, and in tune with modern learning norms. Of course, that doesnt mean this the only focus, we will continue to take in user feedback and improve upon every aspect of the Tutor LMS experience.

Behind the scenes, our team has been fully heads-down, ensuring that when Tutor LMS 4.0 lands, it feels worth the wait. Our goal is simple: deliver a version that speaks for itself the moment you start using it.
